Wednesday May 21, 2008: New York based All for Africa announced today the award of a grant to charity: water (www.charitywater.org) The grant is for the construction, training, and maintenance of 10 freshwater wells in the Republic of Malawi. A portion of the grant will also support charity: water’s operational costs and educational & awareness activities.

The $25,000 grant represents All for Africa’s first grant to New York based charity: water. charity: water has currently funded the construction of over 60 wells in Malawi. The freshwater wells are expected to commence shortly with full operation anticipated by the end of 2008.
‘”We realize that the quickest route to addressing Africa’s crucial needs is through the effective collaboration between all African oriented non profit organizations. We have admired charity:water’s efficiency in meeting its goals of delivering clean water where needed. This is exactly the type of organization that All for Africa is looking to team with as we meet our own goals of supporting sustainable development initiatives in Africa” stated Bruce Wrobel, Executive Director of All for Africa.
“charity: water is excited to team up with All for Africa to bring clean water and basic sanitation to communities in rural Malawi. Currently close to four million people in Malawi don’t have access to clean drinking water. Lack of safe drinking water is the second largest killer of children, and hinders education, health and economic development. With the help of All for Africa, we hope to make a lasting impact by investing in sustainable low-cost solutions. For about $20 a person, we know how to help millions of people get access to clean water” announced Scott Harrison, Founder of charity: water.
charity: water is a New York based 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water into impoverished communities. In less than two years charity: water has funded more than 600 projects in 11 nations that will provide 250,000 people with clean water.
